Residents commemorate Anzac day

The residents at the Vicarage Court Care home commemorated Anzac Day on Friday 25th April. As many of you know we have an Austrailian connection. The home had Austrailian flags and bunting. The residents enjoy a special Austrailian themed menu with special pies and cakes.

Anzac Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day on which we remember Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of Anzac, with its human qualities of courage and sacrifice, continues to have meaning today.

Aswell as Australians, many other nations sacrificed for freedom during the World Wars, including 135,000 Sikhs who died fighting in both wars.

Happy Birthday Mabel Oakley!!!

All the residents had a very good party for Mabel Oakley’s birthday.

She was joined by family and her son also watched via Skype on the ipad, as he is in Kuala Lumpa.

The residents had been looking forward to it as they had really the number of recent parties and are now in the swing of singing and dancing.

There was dancing, buffet and a Frank Sinatra singer….
